which represents the 5 GHz frequency.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So my router Does NOT have the 5 GHz frequency available.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Those letters come from the international standard 802.11 a\/b\/c\/g\/n.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Here&#8217;s the list for the possible options you may found on your router:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>802.11 a:<\/strong> 5 GHz<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>802.11 b:<\/strong> 2.4 GHz<\/li>\n<li><strong>802.11 ac:<\/strong> 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz<\/li>\n<li><strong>802.11 g:<\/strong> 2.4 GHz<\/li>\n<li><strong>802.11 n:<\/strong> 2.4 GHz<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So, you can use the options <strong>b\/g\/n<\/strong> to have 2.4 GHz or <strong>ac<\/strong> to have 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">==&gt; I would recommend using the&nbsp;<strong>802.11 ac <\/strong>to have both frequencies working.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Router SSID configuration<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When you use a laptop, tablet, or mobile phone you can see the available network signals, they show up with names that are configured on your router.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Those network names are technically known as &#8220;SSIDs&#8221; and they allow you to identify the different networks available in the area.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Check the router SSID<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The picture below shows a Lynksys Router with configuration.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As you can see, the Network Name (SSID) is: &#8220;<em>get-virus-now<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Router SSID\" data-id=\"15530\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"720\" height=\"382\" data-init-height=\"382\" title=\"Router SSID\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Router-SSID.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"382\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is the signal name I suppose to see when using my laptop or mobile device.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> I use this SSID name to help to keep people away from the router because I never know if a neighbor will keep trying to connect to my Wi-Fi network.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Network SSID to connect my Wyze Cam\" data-id=\"15538\" width=\"350\" data-init-width=\"350\" height=\"300\" data-init-height=\"300\" title=\"Network SSID to connect my Wyze Cam\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Network-SSID-to-connect-my-Wyze-Cam.jpg\" data-width=\"350\" data-height=\"300\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">My mobile phone shows the SSID available to connect my devices and this is the one I use the laptop, tablet, and also the <strong>Wyze Cam<\/strong> and I&#8217;m sure it&#8217;s the 2.4 GHz one.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As mentioned before, your router can have both frequencies (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) enabled at the same time thus using two different SSIDs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you use such an option, make sure you name your SSIDs accordingly so you can easily identifify them, for example,&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>my-ssid-24ghz<\/strong> and <strong>my-ssid-5ghz<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wrong Wi-Fi Password<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the Wyze Cam set up process you need to make sure you are using the correct password to connect to the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3cjjYzC\" style=\"outline: none;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wi-Fi router<\/a> because that could be one of the reasons the Wyze Cam cannot connect to the network.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Make sure you are using the correct password and check if it&#8217;s not a problem with the lower case or UPPER CASE or if there&#8217;s some space in the password.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Things like <em><strong>&#8221; mywifipassword&#8221;<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp; and <em><strong>&#8220;mywifipassword&#8221;<\/strong><\/em> are different because the extra space makes the password totally different for the devices.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Router MAC address filtering<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Every device that connects to a computer network has a MAC address.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Wyze Cam is not different and has its MAC address written on the bottom of the camera as shown in the picture below:<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Wyze Cam MAC Address\" data-id=\"15546\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"720\" height=\"385\" data-init-height=\"385\" title=\"Wyze Cam MAC Address\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Wyze-Cam-MAC-Address.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"385\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You can also find this information via the Wyze Cam App.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Your Wi-Fi router can have some filters to avoid an attack.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The MAC Address Filter is on of them and you need to check if it&#8217;s enabled.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Wireless MAC Filter\" data-id=\"15544\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"720\" height=\"316\" data-init-height=\"316\" title=\"Wireless MAC Filter\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Wireless-MAC-Filter.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"316\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You can login to your router and check if the MAC Address filter is enabled.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I don&#8217;t use such a filter, so you can see that is disabled on my router.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wi-Fi encryption<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To protect your wireless network, your Wi-Fi router used the password and a form of encryption which is usually the <em><strong>WPA\/WPA2<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">That&#8217;s what your Wyze Cam expect to find during the connection.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">the picture below shows this configuration on my router.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Router Encryption mode\" data-id=\"15549\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"781\" height=\"240\" data-init-height=\"261\" title=\"Router Encryption mode\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Router-Encryption-mode.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"240\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Make sure you are using this type of encryption for your router to avoid the Wyze Cam network connection error.
