cursor: text;\">Depending on the Internet connection service you have, your router is given a <strong>dynamic IP <\/strong>that changes from time to time and the devices that are on the Internet can&#8217;t find it anymore thus losing the connection to the cameras or recorders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">If you have an <a href=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/advantages-of-ip-cameras\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"outline: none;\" rel=\"noopener\">IP camera<\/a>, Encoder, <a href=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/cctv-dvr-digital-video-recorder\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"outline: none;\" rel=\"noopener\">DVR <\/a>(Digital Video Recorder) or <a href=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/what-is-nvr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NVR <\/a>(Network Video Recorder) in your local network and want to have them available on the Internet, the DDNS service can help you out.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">How the DDNS works<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Your surveillance device can connect to a DDNS server on the Internet to let it know when the router IP changes so the information is updated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">The DDNS server uses a<strong> URL<\/strong> (Universal Resource Locator) which is a name that represents your router actual IP and it&#8217;s stored on the server database for consulting.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">A URL such as <em><strong>https:\/\/ddns.hanwha-security.com\/mycam<\/strong><\/em> is assigned to your Wisenet account to represent the IP camera you have for example.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">This is just a random URL and IP example (that are not valid)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">When the router gets a new IP from the Internet Service provider, the server receives the information and change it, so you don&#8217;t need to know the new IP but only the URL, which is easier for humans to remember, right? \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">The Wisenet DDNs service<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Hanwha Techwin has a<strong> free DDNS service<\/strong> you can use to create your account and register your devices to have access via the Internet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">It&#8217;s necessary to configure the IP camera and the DDNS server.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">The diagram below shows an example ot the Wisenet camera and the server.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Hanwha Security DDNS Server\" data-id=\"16867\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"1397\" height=\"271\" data-init-height=\"527\" title=\"Hanwha Security DDNS Server\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Hanwha-Security-DDNS-Server.png\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"271\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; Let&#8217;s go to the device configuration.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">The camera setup<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Now it&#8217;s time to open the camera network menu and look for DDNS.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">I have an old SNB-8000 camera manufactured by <strong>Samsung Techwin<\/strong> which is the <strong>Hanwha Techwin<\/strong> predecessor. If you have a new Wisenet camera the network menu should look similar. Please follow the same principle.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">The image below shows the DDNS menu. On the right side, it&#8217;s possible to enable the &#8220;<strong><em>Samsung DDNS<\/em><\/strong>&#8221; (or Wisenet\/Hanwha DDNS) and insert the information.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"SNB-8000 DDNS setup 01\" data-id=\"16878\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"720\" height=\"388\" data-init-height=\"388\" title=\"SNB-8000 DDNS setup 01\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/SNB-8000-DDNS-setup-01.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"388\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">After entering the information click apply and wait for the camera to test the connection, you should receive the &#8220;<strong>success<\/strong>&#8221; message.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">If everything is OK, you should see the connection status on the DDNS server change to &#8220;<strong>ON<\/strong>&#8221; and then you will be able to use the service.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Connection status on\" data-id=\"16880\" width=\"672\" data-init-width=\"672\" height=\"145\" data-init-height=\"145\" title=\"Connection status on\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Connection-status-on.jpg\" data-width=\"672\" data-height=\"145\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">The URL https:\/\/ddns.hanwha-security.com\/learncctvboxcam1 now redirects the connection to my router&#8217;s IP which today is 73.85.192.4.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Now, every time I want to have access to my camera I just need to use type the URL on a browser and the Wisenet DDNS takes care of the redirection.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">When my Internet Service provider changes the router&#8217;s IP, the camera will find out and send the information to the DNS server to update the database.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Now, I can use the &#8220;<strong>View<\/strong>&#8221; button on the right side to open the connection.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Connection preview\" data-id=\"16884\" width=\"675\" data-init-width=\"675\" height=\"152\" data-init-height=\"152\" title=\"Connection preview\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Connection-preview.jpg\" data-width=\"675\" data-height=\"152\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">After clicking the button a web browser is launched with the IP and port used on my network, but at this time I should see a connection problem because my router receives the request but doesn&#8217;t know how to handle it. As shown below.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Wisenet Access Via Web Browser Error\" data-id=\"16886\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"870\" height=\"414\" data-init-height=\"501\" title=\"Wisenet Access Via Web Browser Error\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Wisenet-Access-Via-WebBrowser-Error.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"414\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">That&#8217;s normal, no problem here&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Take a look at the browser address to see that the IP address (73.85.192.4) is OK and the port (8080) is also the one I&#8217;m using for my camera.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">That indicates that the DDNS is doing its job correctly by redirecting the URL to the IP and port on my network. Now you need to work in the 2nd step and set up the router to handle the connection correctly and direct the traffic to the IP camera.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">This process is known as port forwarding and it&#8217;s pretty simple.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Let&#8217;s take a look at how to do that now&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Port forwarding<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">It&#8217;s necessary to enter the information in your router to redirect the traffic that comes from the Internet.
