Did he say it was a good brand, or did he not mention anything about it ?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[tcb-script async=&#8221;&#8221; src=&#8221;\/\/z-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/widgets\/onejs?MarketPlace=US&amp;adInstanceId=18aae1b9-2ba6-4fa0-8bae-3fef233061ec&#8221;][\/tcb-script]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\"><span>I do not know exactly what might be written on the front part of your DVR, but I can assure you that H.264 is not a brand!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Did you know that DVR H264 is not a brand?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\"><span>This is the first thing you should understand before configure your DVR for remote viewing over the Internet or when you lose the password and have a hard time trying to retrive it. (If that happens to you just read the article: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/how-to-reset-h-264-network-dvr\/\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"outline: none;\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>How to reset H.264 Network DVR<\/span><\/a><span>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Some DVRs have the following names in the front part:&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span><span>Network H.264 DVR<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"\"><span><span>H.264 Digital Video Recorder<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span>Digital H.264 Recoder<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span>H.264 DVR<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\"><span>There are other variations of the name, but none of them represents the brand but rather the type of compression (CODEC) that it uses. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\"><span>They are <strong>non-branded DVRs<\/strong> manufactured in China and passed to the market by distributors that use this name only because <strong>H.<\/strong><strong>264 <\/strong>is a good video compressor algorithm. To learn more about video compression read the article:&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/how-cctv-codecs-work\/\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"outline: none;\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>How CCTV CODECs work<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Example of non-branded and branded DVR<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>We will use the Alartec brand as a DVR brand example, when you purchase an equipment from that company you can see the logo somewhere, usually on the frontal part of the DVR and also on the configuration menu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Note in the first picture a non-branded DVR. There is only a text that says &#8220;<em><strong>H.264 Digital Video Recorder<\/strong><\/em>&#8220;. This only indicates that the DVR has H.264 compression CODEC. THIS IS NOT THE BRAND<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"H.264 DVR is not a brand\" width=\"700\" height=\"272\" title=\"H264-DVR-is-a-not-the-brand\" data-id=\"1838\" src=\"\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/H264-DVR-is-a-not-the-brand.png\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>In this other image you see a very similar DVR, but it has a logo on the left side with Alartec&#8217;s name. Therefore there must be a distributor that can support you with software for remote DVR remote viewing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"DVR brand\" width=\"700\" height=\"307\" title=\"H264-Alartec-DVR\" data-id=\"1839\" src=\"\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/H264-Alartec-DVR.png\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Do you have a branded or non-brand DVR?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\"><span>To access your <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/33B1yaB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>H264 DVR<\/span><\/a><span> from your mobile phone, you first need to know if it has a brand. If it&#8217;s a branded model probably it will have an operation manual and a technical support number, which is very good.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Here are some examples of brands of DVRs that are found on the market:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Hikvision, Dahua, Citrox, Clear, Alive, Lorex, Alartec, Multilaser, Trynus, Ecotronic, Voyager, Aprica, Jortan, Samsung, Bosch, Pelco, Panasonic, Sony, etc.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Note that in this list there are some <strong>well-known brands<\/strong> such as Samsung, Bosch, Pelco, Panasonic and Sony and there are others that are not that are not the kind everybody knows (Clear, Ecotronic, Jortan, Voyager,etc).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[tcb-script async=&#8221;&#8221; src=&#8221;\/\/z-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/widgets\/onejs?MarketPlace=US&amp;adInstanceId=0bb6aa33-fe3c-4903-9196-4942c8506e93&#8243;][\/tcb-script]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>If your DVR has a well-known brand, just use the App provided by the manufacturer or dealer to have remote viewing via mobile, otherwise it is necessary to use a generic App, just like the one I will talk about.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>App for non-branded H264 DVRs<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>So, if you have a non-branded generic DVR you can use this App that usually works with most of the devices manufactured in China that carries the name: &#8220;<em><strong>H.264 Digital Video Recorder<\/strong><\/em>&#8221; on the DVR&#8217;s front panel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>There are different Apps and for this purpose, one of them is the <strong>Meye <\/strong>developed by the company <strong>Meye Tech<\/strong>. You can find the software on the site: <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.meyetech.com\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"outline: none;\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>http:\/\/www.meyetech.com<\/span><\/a><span> and on the Playstore\/Android Store.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Mobile apps may or may not have costs. Usually when they are free, you are going to see some advertisement on the App, this is the way the developer can generate some revenue without charge by the App.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Note below the information: &#8220;<em><strong>this app has advertising<\/strong><\/em>&#8220;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.MEye&amp;hl=pt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Ap Meyer for DVR remote view\" width=\"709\" height=\"234\" title=\"DVR-H264-MEye-App\" data-id=\"1841\" src=\"\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/DVR-H264-MEye-App.png\"><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>If you don&#8217;t want to see the advertisements in the App, just pay for the professional version. Note that on the right side of the image there is a button for the purchase:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>You can buy the app in the playstore<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.MEyeProp\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"outline: none;\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Meye Pro+ on Google Playstore <\/a><\/p>\n<p><span><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.MEyeProp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"App Meye Pro\" width=\"711\" height=\"243\" title=\"DVR-H264-MEye-App-Pro\" data-id=\"1842\" src=\"\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/DVR-H264-MEye-App-Pro.png\"><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Install the Meye App on your mobile phone<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>To access the H264 DVR directly on your mobile phone, go to the playstore and install the App. See the images below.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"App MEye for DVR remote access\" width=\"341\" height=\"500\" title=\"DVR-H264-MEye-App-Install\" data-id=\"1843\" src=\"\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/DVR-H264-MEye-App-Install.jpg\" style=\"\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Make sure you are your are downloading the correct version of the Meye app, because in Playstore there are other similar apps.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Download the App that is developed by Meyetech.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Note that this version has been downloaded more than 1 million times worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>The version of this app is for mobile phones with the Android operating system, and by the time I write this article it is in version 4.4.1.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>The installation is simple and very fast, but bring the adds with it.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>App configuration do add a H.264 DVR<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Before configure your App, make sure your have DVR remote viewing from your computer within your local network through the internal IP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Local Network for remote access\" width=\"700\" height=\"295\" title=\"App-Installation-Network-Diagram\" data-id=\"1844\" src=\"\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/App-Installation-Network-Diagram.png\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>In the above diagram the DVR already has an IP (example: 192.168.1.1) and an access port (example: 37777) and has already been tested with the computer on the internal network. The mobile phone is connected via Wi-Fi to the same local network as the DVR.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>This is a test that you can do for the internal DVR viewing, for remote viewing via Internet, the IP that must be used is the one that is configured in your router (for example: 50.79.86.90).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>See below the diagram for the external configuration<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"App DVR Diagram\" width=\"700\" height=\"269\" title=\"App-Installation-Network-Diagram-Internet\" data-id=\"1845\" src=\"\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/App-Installation-Network-Diagram-Internet.png\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span><strong>IMPORTANT: <\/strong>Test your DVR via using the computer in the local network before attempting to set up mobile access. By doing that you ensure that the remote viewing is already working before proceed to the next step. If you don&#8217;t know the basics about setting up DVR remote viewing, I recommend you to read the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/ultimate-security-camera-guide-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"outline: none;\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>Ultimate Security Camera Guide V2<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>For the App configuration you will need the following information:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"\">Name you want to use to identify the DVR<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"\"><span>DVR&#8217;s IP (or DDNs Name)<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"\"><span>DVR port for mobile connection<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"\"><span>&nbsp;DVR Useraname<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"\"><span>DVR password<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>After installing the application, just open it and start the setup. Click the Add Camera button and fill in your DVR information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"App Meyer Add camera\" width=\"341\"
