HD-TVI, HD-CVI and AHD are high resolution analog cameras<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Some time ago to have a <strong>high resolution<\/strong> <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/35Klr1B\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"outline: none;\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>CCTV camera<\/span><\/a><span> system people used to buy IP cameras. This scenario changed with the arrival of HD-TVI, HD-CVI and AHD technologies that started to compete with IP cameras.\u200b<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>When you are looking for security cameras on the market you always find some advertising about hybrid DVRs that support different types of cameras, some of these DVRs support cameras with traditional analog technology, and also <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/35Klr1B\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span><strong>HD-TVI, HD-CVI, AHD<\/strong> <\/span><\/a><span>and sometimes even IP cameras.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Any of the 3 technologies can provide sufficient resolution for most projects. All those three technologies are analog<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span><strong>HD-TVI,<\/strong> <strong>HD-CVI<\/strong> and <strong>AHD <\/strong>are analog, it is important to emphasize this fact because the security camera dealers are always advertising that their equipment support those 3 technologies and also support analog cameras.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span><strong><\/strong>What they really should say is that their equipment support old traditional <strong>low resolution<\/strong> analog cameras and also support the new <strong>high resolution<\/strong> analog cameras with HD-TVI. Hikvision distributes its products around the world in different ways, one of them is using the brand itself and the other is through white label products, where the logo does not appear in the product and third companies can put their own brand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>The technology was created in <strong>2014 <\/strong>with the goal to transmit analog signals using coaxial cables at distances up to 500m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>In <strong>2016 <\/strong>Hikvision announced that with the improvements of the technology in the version Turbo <strong>HDTVI 3.0<\/strong> it would be possible to transmit 720p resolution images at distances up to 1,200m and 1080p resolution images up to 800m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>With new versions of the technology, <strong>4MP<\/strong>, <strong>5MP <\/strong>cameras were manufactured and later came the cameras with 4K resolutions (8MP).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Another important feature to be mentioned is that with HD-TVI version 3.0 it is possible to send video and power through the same coaxial cable, technology known as POC (Power over Coax).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>(To learn more read the article:&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/what-is-power-over-coax-poc-for-cctv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>What is Power Over Coax for CCTV<\/span><\/a><span>&nbsp;)<\/span><\/p>\n<h1>HD-CVI Technology<\/h1>\n<h2>High Definition Composite Video Interface<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Launched in <strong>2012 <\/strong>by Chinese company <strong>Dahua<\/strong>, HD-CVI technology has hit the market to revolutionize the use of high resolution analog cameras<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>The first cameras were models with 720p and 1080p resolution. By 2014 the company was already launching the <strong>HD-CVI 2.0<\/strong> version of the technology that continued to advance each year with the launch of new products with high resolutions and the possibility of using cables with greater distances.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Logo Dahua\" width=\"300\" height=\"90\" title=\"dahua-logo\" data-id=\"9402\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/dahua-logo-1.jpg\" style=\"\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Dahua manufactures the cameras themselves and also allows the use of the technology by other companies around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>In the <strong>HD-CVI<\/strong> version 3.0 the company announced resolutions of up to 4K (8MP) and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/what-is-power-over-coax-poc-for-cctv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>POC <\/span><\/a><span>(Power Over Coax) technology that allows to send power, data and video through the conventional coaxial cable.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1>AHD Technology<\/h1>\n<h2>Analog High Definition<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Developed by Korean company <strong>Nextchip<\/strong>, AHD technology has brought the 720p and 108op high resolution analog cameras to market.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>The company supplies its chip with AHD technology to major manufacturers such as <strong>Hanwha Techwin<\/strong> and other companies worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"NextChip Logo\" width=\"320\" height=\"148\" title=\"Nextchip-logo\" data-id=\"9407\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Nextchip-logo.png\" style=\"\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>At first <strong>AHD 1.0<\/strong> technology allowed the use of <strong>720p <\/strong>resolution cameras. The new <strong>AHD 2.0<\/strong> version introduced <strong>1080p<\/strong> resolution using traditional coaxial cable (RG59) at distances of up to 500m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>The developer of this technology claims that AHD has the advantage of greater compatibility with systems, but in practice it does not seem to have real advantages. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>An AHD camera should connect directly to a traditional monitor with BNC input and display images. However the image displayed is black and white and depending on the AHD version some compatibility problems may occur.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Compatibility with traditional DVRs with <strong>960H <\/strong>resolution is also limited as it only works on cameras with older versions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>It is important to be careful when buying an AHD camera because in the market it is possible to find different nomenclatures like <strong>AHD-L<\/strong>, <strong>AHD-M<\/strong> and <strong>AHD-H<\/strong> that represent Low, Medium and High resolutions respectively. An AHD-L camera has less than HD resolution, the AHD-M has 720p resolution and finally the AHD-H has 1080p resolution.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>HD-TVI, HD-CVI and AHD comparison<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>See the images below comparing the 3 technologies.
