In this article, I explain how to connect an Amcrest camera to Alexa.<\/p>\n

The Amcrest camera works with the Alexa devices, and you can use your voice to alsk Alexa to display the video from the camera the <\/span>Echo Spot<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Echo Show<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>Fire TV stick<\/span><\/a> as shown in the picture below.<\/span><\/p>\n

As an example for this article I’m using the <\/span>Amcrest Pan\/Tilt Camera<\/span><\/a> connected to my Amcrest cloud account to display on my Echo devices.<\/span><\/p>\n

The minimal requirements<\/h2>\n

Make sure you meet the following requirement to connect your camera to Alexa:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The Amcrest  Smart Home App is installed in your smartphone;<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. You have a an Amcrest cloud account;<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. The Amcrest camera  is connected with your cloud account;<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. The Amazon Alexa app is installed on your mobile;<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. You have an Amazon Alexa account;<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. You have an Echo Spot, Echo Show or Fire TV.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Let’s move the the next steps.<\/p>\n

    As long as you have all these requirements, you can move to the next step and install the Alexa skill that allows the communication to the Amcrestcamera.<\/p>\n

    Install the Alexa Skill for the Amcrest camera<\/h2>\n

    Use an easy name for your Amcerst camera so Alexa can understand your voice commands to show the camera on the devices.<\/p>\n

    Avoid using longa names and special characters.<\/p>\n

    Here are some good examples of camera names<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Front door<\/li>\n
    • Back door<\/li>\n
    • Kitchen<\/li>\n
    • Front gate<\/li>\n
    • Garage camera<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      To install the Amcrest Skill, open the Alexa app, and follow the steps.<\/p>\n

      1. Select the menu icon<\/span><\/li>\n
      2. Click on “Skills and Games”<\/span><\/li>\n
      3. Search for “Amcrest Smart Home”<\/span><\/li>\n
      4. Click on “Enable to use”<\/span><\/li>\n
      5. Log in to your Amcrest account<\/span><\/li>\n
      6. Click on “Discover devices”<\/span><\/li>\n
      7. Check if Alexa found your device<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        This process is straightforward, and you should have the Amcerst camera working with Alexa in less than 5 minutes.<\/p>\n

        Since Alexa is connected to your Amcrest account, you give use voice commands to ask “Alexa, show front door<\/strong><\/em>” and the voil\u00e1, the camera shows up on the device.<\/p>\n
