{"id":26634,"date":"2021-10-02T13:34:56","date_gmt":"2021-10-02T18:34:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/?p=26634"},"modified":"2021-10-02T13:37:06","modified_gmt":"2021-10-02T18:37:06","slug":"adjust-focus-on-axis-cameras","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/adjust-focus-on-axis-cameras\/","title":{"rendered":"How to adjust focus on Axis cameras"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">In this article, I explain how to adjust the focus on Axis cameras.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">I have a <strong>P1365 MK II<\/strong> to use as an example on how to solve this issue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">The image below shows the camera that is a slightly out of focus.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Axis IP camera with no focus\" data-id=\"26636\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"1280\" height=\"376\" data-init-height=\"670\" title=\"Axis IP camera with no focus\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Axis-IP-camera-with-no-focus.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"376\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">As you can see, on the bottom right of the screen there&#8217;s a button that gives access to the camera&#8217;s menu where you can adjust everything that you need.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">But before using the camera settings you need to physically adjust the lens&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Adjust the cam<span style=\"font-size: 28px;\">e<\/span>ra lens first<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">My <strong>Axis P1365 MK II<\/strong> uses a varifocal lens, which means I can use the pullers to adjust the camera&#8217;s field of view and focus. So this is the first step&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Lens puller\" data-id=\"26642\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"720\" height=\"405\" data-init-height=\"405\" title=\"Lens puller\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Lens-puller.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"405\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Move the pullers to adjust the focus as best as possible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">There are two pullers in a varifocal lens; one for that moves the lens to zoom in\/out and the other one for the focus. Make sure you are using the right one.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Use the web interface to improve the focus<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">To improve the focus, open the camera settings, go the <strong>Image <\/strong><strong>&gt;&gt;<\/strong><strong>Focus <\/strong>and click the &#8220;<em><strong>Fine-Tune<\/strong><\/em>&#8221; button to open a new window.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Axis IP camera Fine Tune Focus\" data-id=\"26639\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"1280\" height=\"375\" data-init-height=\"668\" title=\"Axis IP camera Fine Tune Focus\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Axis-IP-camera-Fine-Tune-Focus.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"375\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Click the button and wait for the camera to adjust the sensor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">It takes some time since the camera moves the sensor back and forth to find the correct position with the exact distance to the lens.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Focus Adjustment Button\" data-id=\"26637\" width=\"346\" data-init-width=\"346\" height=\"208\" data-init-height=\"208\" title=\"Focus Adjustment Button\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Focus-Adjusment-Button.jpg\" data-width=\"346\" data-height=\"208\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The camera displays a message on the top right of the screen as soon as the process is finished and the perfect focus is acquired.
