Yeah, you are in the right place. Here you can learn how to do that. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

But first, you need to understand how the camera uses the coordinates.<\/p>\n

The Axis cameras coordinates<\/h2>\n

Please take a look at the following picture to understand how the Axis cameras use the coordinates, and then you can set up the PAN limits <\/strong>the way you want to.<\/p>\n

The <\/span>Axis PTZ camera <\/span><\/strong>is represented in the <\/span>center of the picture<\/span><\/strong>; its lens is pointing to the front (90\u00ba) and its back pointing to the back (-90\u00ba).<\/span><\/p>\n

In fact, I’m considering the positions 0\u00ba to 180\u00ba<\/strong> as the frontal <\/strong>part <\/strong>of the camera.<\/p>\n

Then the camera uses negative coordinates<\/strong> from -180\u00ba o 0\u00ba <\/span><\/strong>for the back part.<\/p>\n

So, the camera can rotate (PAN) from 0\u00ba to 180\u00ba<\/strong> from left to right<\/strong> and then continue the rotation from -180\u00ba to 0.<\/span><\/strong>  (It’s not the traditional 0\u00ba to 360\u00ba system).<\/span><\/p>\n

As soon as you understand that, it’s easy to choose the coordinates you want to have your camera working on, and then you basically limit the camera movement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Let’s take a look at a practical example so you can better understand how it works.<\/span><\/p>\n

How to limit an Axis PTZ camera movement<\/h2>\n

Just imagine you have your Axis PTZ camera installed on a wall.<\/span><\/p>\n

You don’t want the camera rotating back to show you just a bunch of bricks.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, let’s limit the camera to<\/span> PAN <\/span><\/strong>from <\/span>12\u00ba to 173\u00ba<\/span><\/strong>, as represented below.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the left side, there’s a <\/span>PAN 0\u00ba<\/span><\/strong> mark; that’s the reference point to the camera.<\/span><\/p>\n

You can install your camera and configure this point according to your needs.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, now we just need to “tell the camera<\/em>” to keep its PAN movement between 12\u00ba and 173\u00ba where you have your area of interest. No negative coordinates are used.<\/span><\/p>\n

Perhaps you may be wondering, “how do I know what the coordinates are?<\/em><\/strong> “<\/span><\/p>\n

That’s easy, my friend. You just need to use overlay text to display the coordinates on the screen and move the camera to the desired position to get them.<\/span><\/p>\n
