{"id":27097,"date":"2021-10-15T20:00:21","date_gmt":"2021-10-16T01:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/?p=27097"},"modified":"2021-10-15T08:35:35","modified_gmt":"2021-10-15T13:35:35","slug":"axis-default-ip-address","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/axis-default-ip-address\/","title":{"rendered":"Axis default IP address"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Let&#8217;s talk about the IP address and password for Axis devices.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The default IP address for Axis cameras and other devices is\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">192.168.0.90<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0with netmask<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0255.255.255.0<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, and the default password is set during the installation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Old Axis cameras (really old ones) use the<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0root\/pass<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, respectively, as the\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">username\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and the\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">password\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">to log in to the device. But those are rare cases.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Using static IPs<\/h2>\n<p style=\"cursor: text; text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If you are installing cameras in a flat network only with switches and no <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dynamic_Host_Configuration_Protocol\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">DHCP<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> server (that gives your device an IP), it&#8217;s necessary to change the default IP address of each camera so you can add them to the system without conflict.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"cursor: text; text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">I recommend you to read the article &#8220;<\/span><a style=\"outline: none;\" href=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/find-axis-cameras-in-the-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">How to find Axis IP camera in the network<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8221; to learn more about the tools available to manage your devices.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Automatic IPs<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">When you connect an Axis device (IP camera, encoder, decoder, NVR, radar), it uses the standard TCP\/IP protocol to ask for an IP in the network.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If you have a\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">router\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">or a\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">DHCP server<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0that handles the IP distribution, the Axis device just gets an IP in the network like any other device, so it does not use the\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">default IP<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">192.168.0.90<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0anymore (unless this is set in your DHCP server).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">How to control the IP address distribution<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">It&#8217;s possible to control the IP address distribution to give specific IPs to your Axis devices.
