In this article, I explain how to fix the focus issue<\/strong> with the Axis P3225 <\/strong>camera.<\/p>\n

I recently purchased a camera on E-bay, and I got a problem trying to have the focus working, so I decided to fix it and write an article to show how to do it.<\/p>\n

In the Autofocus window, the following message pops up:<\/p>\n

“The Server encountered an internal error and could not complete the request<\/em><\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

\"P3225-V<\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve also seen some users reporting this problem with the Axis P3245<\/strong> models.<\/p>\n

So, let’s take a look at the steps to solve this problem:<\/p>\n

Fix the hardware first<\/h2>\n

Based on the message I got from the camera, I realized that it could be a miscommunication issue between the mainboard and the lens module.<\/p>\n

The next logical step is to remove the screws from the lens module to check if there’s some cable disconnected and connect it back to its place.<\/p>\n

\"P3225<\/span><\/p>\n

The following picture shows the small connector on the mainboard.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Just make sure the connector is in its place and mount the lens module back.<\/p>\n

Lens calibration<\/h2>\n

Once you have your camera mounted again, open a web browser, go to Setup >> <\/span>System Options, <\/span><\/em><\/strong>and click on “<\/span>Maintenance”<\/span><\/em><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Camera<\/span><\/p>\n

In the next screen, click on “Calibrate<\/strong><\/em>” and wait for the camera to adjust the lens.<\/p>\n

It may take some time to have the calibration done.<\/p>\n

\"Axis<\/span><\/p>\n

If you are lucky, the calibration will succeed, and the camera will focus adequately.<\/p>\n

But sometimes, things are not that easy, and you need to take an extra step.<\/p>\n

If the Autofocus still does not work<\/h2>\n

OK, sometimes you go over all this process but still have issues with the autofocus.<\/p>\n

Well, it’s not your lucky day \ud83d\ude42 But don’t worry, I’ve been there and I could fix it.<\/p>\n

The following picture shows the Autofocus having a hard time to get things done because it hits the maximum point on the right side.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

In my case, I’ve tried to adjust the focus manually, but I got the same result.<\/p>\n

It looks like the lens can’t go beyond some point because of a miss calibration or because the lens is not in the correct position, so you need to force it into place.<\/p>\n

==> <\/span><\/strong>I recommend you to go over the <\/span>troubleshooting <\/span><\/strong>process, <\/span>calibration<\/span><\/strong>, and <\/span>firmware update<\/span><\/strong> before trying this procedure if your camera is under warranty to talk to <\/span>Axis support<\/span><\/strong> to request an RMA.<\/span><\/p>\n

If your camera is not under warranty anymore, you can try to adjust the lens by opening the lens module or pushing the lens, as I’m about to show you.<\/p>\n

The picture below shows how GENTLY to push the lens to force it to its place.<\/p>\n

\"Pushing<\/span><\/p>\n

Once again, it’s up to you if you want to try this procedure. There’s a risk that something can go wrong, and I can’t guarantee that it will work for you.<\/p>\n

It worked for me twice for two different P3225-V MK II cameras.<\/p>\n

Use the Autofocus again<\/h2>\n

After that procedure, the focus adjustment worked pretty well.<\/p>\n

As you can see in the picture below, the focus point is slight to the left now.<\/p>\n

And that’s it.<\/p>\n

Now I have my camera working fine and the focus is good.<\/p>\n

You can try this method if your P3225 or P3245 are out of focus.<\/p>\n

The good part is that I even recorded a video to show the process.<\/p>\n
