I&#8217;ve been testing it for some time to share the results and my opinion about this product. Everything you read here is based on my opinion, and the manufacturer does not influence it.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Amcrest IP4M-1063EW-AI Overview<\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The&nbsp;<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Amcrest IP4M-1063EW-AI<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;is a digital PTZ (Pan, Tilt Zoom) camera with 4MP resolution, 25X Optical Zoom, and AI features such as People and Vehicle detection. The camera looks sturdy and well-designed, and the setup is straightforward.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Just keep reading to see more details and my conclusion.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">What is on the box<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The camera comes ready for installation.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Amcrest camera What is in the box\" data-id=\"28449\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"720\" height=\"579\" data-init-height=\"579\" title=\"Amcrest camera What is in the box\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Amcrest-camera-What-is-in-the-box.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"579\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The box brings the camera, a wall mount, power supply, UTP (network) cable, weather protection rubber, locking and installation screws, safety chain, Allen wrench, UTP cable weather protection, and installation and setup manuals.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The PTZ camera<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And here&#8217;s the camera. It&#8217;s pretty nice, huh?<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Amcrest 4MP PTZ camera detail\" data-id=\"28452\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"720\" height=\"480\" data-init-height=\"480\" title=\"Amcrest 4MP PTZ camera detail\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Amcrest-4MP-PTZ-camera-Detail.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"480\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The camera is well-designed. There&#8217;s a motorized lens in the front part and the IR LEDs for night vision up to 328 feet away (according to the manufacturer).<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The camera back<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There&#8217;s a QR code on the back of the camera for setup with a mobile.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Under the cover, there&#8217;s a micro SD card slot, a reset button, and some silica gel packages to reduce the humidity that eventually may get into the camera.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Amcrest 4MP PTZ camera back\" data-id=\"28454\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"720\" height=\"438\" data-init-height=\"438\" title=\"Amcrest 4MP PTZ camera back\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Amcrest-4MP-PTZ-camera-back.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"438\" style=\"\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">As you can see in the picture, there&#8217;s also a rubber band to seal the camera.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The camera features<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Let&#8217;s take a look at some of the Amcrest PTZ camera features.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Camera resolution<\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The camera resolution is&nbsp;<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">4MP<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, so you can zoom into the recorded footage to see details without too much pixelation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Here&#8217;s an example of the image from the camera.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Amcrest 4MP PTZ image example\" data-id=\"28459\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"720\" height=\"403\" data-init-height=\"403\" title=\"Amcrest 4MP PTZ image example\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Amcrest-4MP-PTZ-image-example1.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"403\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The quality is good. The video footage is recorded with 2560 x 1440 pixels.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Weatherproof<\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The&nbsp;<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">IP4M-1063EW-AI is IP66 rated. This&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">means the camera is weatherproof, so you can install it outdoor, and it should not have any problem with rain.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Audio Input<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">The camera has audio input\/output wires, so you can install an external microphone that allows you to hear and record the audio.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">The picture below shows the wires for audio connection.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Amcrest PTZ Audio IO\" data-id=\"28462\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"720\" height=\"352\" data-init-height=\"352\" title=\"Amcrest PTZ Audio IO\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Amcrest-PTZ-Audio-IO.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"352\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Be aware that there&#8217;s no internal microphone, you need to use an external one.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Alert notification<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The camera can send notifications via email.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You just need to choose the event and check the &#8220;Send Email&#8221; box.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Amcrest PTZ Camera Alert\" data-id=\"28464\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"803\" height=\"479\" data-init-height=\"535\" title=\"Amcrest PTZ Camera Alert\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Amcrest-PTZ-Camera-Alert.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"479\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The email alerts include a picture of the event (motion detection).<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">SD Card Recording<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You can use a micro SD card to record the videos.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;I recommend you buy a<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2XBiiwT\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"outline: none;\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;class 10 micro SD card<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;to avoid problems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3EsYYVE\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Sandisk 32GB MicroSD Card\" data-id=\"15378\" width=\"177\" data-init-width=\"250\" height=\"130\" data-init-height=\"184\" title=\"Sandisk 32GB MicroSD Card\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Sandisk-32GB-MicroSD-Card.jpg\" data-width=\"177\" data-height=\"130\" style=\"\" data-link-wrap=\"true\"><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Just stick the card into the camera and turn on the recording.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You can set the Pre ad Post-Motion Recording which gives you extra footage&nbsp; before and after the event that triggered the recording.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Multiple video stream<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">The camera allows the configuration of two different video streams.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">You can have a high-resolution video stream and a second one with lower quality.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Camera multiple stream\" data-id=\"28465\" width=\"716\" data-init-width=\"716\" height=\"343\" data-init-height=\"343\" title=\"Camera multiple stream\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Camera-multiple-stream.jpg\" data-width=\"716\" data-height=\"343\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As you can see in the picture, there&#8217;s a &#8220;Main Stream&#8221; and a &#8220;Sub Stream&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">It&#8217;s possible to choose the CODEC, resolution, frame rate, and bitrate for each one of the video streams. You can use one for recording and the other for mobile view.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">That&#8217;s how most professional cameras work, so I think Amcrest is good here.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Back Light compensation<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Amcrest PTZ camera works with different types of<a href=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wdr-blc-and-hlc\/\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"outline: none;\" rel=\"noopener\"> light compensation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">BLC &#8211; Backlight Compensation<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">HLC &#8211; Highlight Compensation<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/what-is-wdr\/\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"outline: none;\" rel=\"noopener\">WDR &#8211; Wide Dynamic Range<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">In a nutshell, BLC and WDR work with light contrast and shadows during the daytime, which means the camera can compensate for dark and bright areas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>HLC is often used to mask car headlights at nighttime.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The pictures below show an example of my test with BLC and WDR.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Here&#8217;s the camera with the Light compensation Off.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Note that it&#8217;s impossible to read the text (Home), and the details are missing due to the excess of light. Here I&#8217;m putting the Amcrest camera to the test.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The picture below shows a lit room with a dark object in the background (door) and a white and reflective object in the foreground (camera&#8217;s box).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Let&#8217;s see what happens when I turn the lights off&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Amcrest PTZ - No night vision\" data-id=\"28476\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"971\" height=\"473\" data-init-height=\"638\" title=\"Amcrest PTZ - No night vision\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Night-Vision-03.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"473\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The camera&#8217;s night vision mode is excellent, as seen in the picture below.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Amcrest PTZ Night Vision\" data-id=\"28477\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"968\" height=\"473\" data-init-height=\"636\" title=\"Amcrest PTZ Night Vision\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Night-Vision-05.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"473\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sure, this is an indoor test, and the result would be different from an outdoor scenario. Nevertheless, I believe the camera&#8217;s night vision feature is good since it can adjust itself and prioritize the main object in the scene.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"\">Zoom<\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Amcrest 4MP PTZ camera works with&nbsp;<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">25X optical zoom<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">That&#8217;s enough to see object far away. Take a look at the following pictures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Here&#8217;s how we see the sign with the zoom out (no zoom).<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Amcrest 4MP PTZ Zoom out\" data-id=\"28495\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"720\" height=\"405\" data-init-height=\"405\" title=\"Amcrest 4MP PTZ Zoom out\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Amcrest-4MP-PTZ-Zoom-out.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"405\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Here&#8217;s how we see the sign with the zoom in (maximum zoom).<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"28496\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"720\" height=\"405\" data-init-height=\"405\" title=\"Amcrest-4MP-PTZ-Zoom-in\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Amcrest-4MP-PTZ-Zoom-in-1.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"405\" style=\"\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">Here&#8217;s how we see the sign with the zoom in (maximum zoom).<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"\">Mobile Phone App<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">The Amcrest camera works with mobile apps, Web browsers, and software.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">To get the camera up and running for the first time, I connected it to my router, opened the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.mm.android.direct.AmcrestViewPro&amp;hl=en_US&amp;gl=US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;Amcrest View Pro<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, and scanned the&nbsp;<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">QR code&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">on the camera.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Amcrest PTZ on Mobile Phone\" data-id=\"28506\" width=\"194\" data-init-width=\"622\" height=\"399\" data-init-height=\"1280\" title=\"Amcrest PTZ on Mobile Phone\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Amcrest-PTZ-on-Mobile-Phone.jpg\" data-width=\"194\" data-height=\"399\" style=\"\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">The mobile App it&#8217;s the easy way to get the camera up and running as long as you have the camera connected to your router and an Amcrest account.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"\">Recording<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">It&#8217;s possible to record the footage to a micro SD card, FTP, NAS, or the cloud.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">I tested microSD recording and it works very well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">The picture below shows the footage recorded on the microSD card.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Amcrest PTZ SD Recording\" data-id=\"28490\" width=\"719\" data-init-width=\"720\" height=\"478\" data-init-height=\"478\" title=\"Amcrest PTZ SD Recording\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Amcrest-PTZ-SD-Recording.jpg\" data-width=\"719\" data-height=\"478\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">I also tested footage recording on different software; let&#8217;s take a look.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"\">Recording test with Amcrest Surveillance Pro<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\">I added the Amcrest PTZ camera to the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.amcrest.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/213713737-Amcrest-Surveillance-Pro\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"outline: none;\" rel=\"noopener\">Amcrest Surveillance Pro.<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; cursor: text;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The software didn&#8217;t find the camera using the&nbsp;<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Auto Search<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;Feature, even after I specified the network IP range and disabled the firewall.
