There are a lot of different IP camera brands out there, but the configuration process is similar to all of them. In this article, I will teach you <strong>how to configure Hikvision IP camera<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>[tcb-script async=&#8221;&#8221; src=&#8221;\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js&#8221;][\/tcb-script][tcb-script](adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});[\/tcb-script]<\/p>\n<h2>IP camera network diagram<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">OK, the first thing I want to show you is how an IP camera can be part of your network. Looking at a diagram is the easiest way to understand how this device is connected and what are the other elements of the network.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IP camera network diagram\" width=\"720\" height=\"156\" title=\"IP camera network diagram\" data-id=\"5398\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IP-camera-network-diagram.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As you can see, this is a pretty basic diagram which has an IP camera, a PoE switch and a laptop connected together. An alternative to that diagram it to replace the switch with a router, in that case, you need to use a power supply to the camera.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Take a look again at the diagram. Can you see a lightning bolt symbol close to the IP camera? I put it there to let you know the camera is powered up by the UTP (network cable), so there&#8217;s no need for an extra power supply.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">PoE stands for <strong>Power Over Ethernet <\/strong>and that&#8217;s a universal standard to send power to IP devices. If it doesn&#8217;t, you can find the camera with its<strong> default IP address<\/strong> which is <strong>192.0.0.64<\/strong>. You can see that in the SADP tool.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Hikvision SADP camera IP\" width=\"720\" height=\"269\" title=\"Hikvision SADP camera IP\" data-id=\"5406\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Hikvision-SADP-camera-IP.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The picture shows that the SADP tool found the Hikvision IP camera in the network and the IP is <strong>192.0.0.64<\/strong>, the communication port is <strong>8000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There&#8217;s also the information for the subnet mask which is <strong>255.255.255.0 <\/strong>and the IPV4 gateway that is not configured yet and shows: <strong>0.0.0.0.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you not familiar with the IP network address scheme. Just ignore the IPV4 gateway information if you don&#8217;t want to have the IP camera available on the Internet, but if that&#8217;s the case. just replace the 0.0.0.0 with your local router IP address.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>IMPORTANT: <\/strong>You must change the camera IP to make it work at the same IP address range your computer is working on. This device is your Internet router.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Just open the Hikvision SADP tool again and configure the IPV4 gateway with the IP address of your router (see the picture below).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Hikvision SADP Gateway configuration\" width=\"720\" height=\"269\" title=\"Hikvision SADP Gateway configuration\" data-id=\"5426\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Hikvision-SADP-Gateway-configuration.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>How to find the gateway information (IP)<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Just in case you don&#8217;t know how to find your computer or gateway (router) information, you can use the command prompt to find it out.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Click on the windows search bar, type <strong>CMD<\/strong>, and click the <strong>Command Prompt<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"cmd command\" width=\"395\" height=\"150\" title=\"cmd command\" data-id=\"5429\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/cmd-command.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The next step is to type the command ip config in to see the information about your computer IP address and gateway, see the picture below for the details.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"command prompt gateway\" width=\"602\" height=\"196\" title=\"command prompt gateway\" data-id=\"5431\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/command-prompt-gateway.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The default gateway is the router&#8217;s IP, meaning your computer has such information and that&#8217;s the reason it can reach the Internet (by sending packets to the router).
