I&#8217;ve seen this before, but only on other paid VMSes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When using IP cameras you can choose which profile is better for different situations and that certainly can help you to save bandwidth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Let&#8217;s take a look at a diagram to better understand the concept.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As you can see in the diagram, the IP camera works with two different profiles.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Luxriot Sever Monitor Diagram\" width=\"885\" height=\"244\" title=\"Luxriot Sever Monitor Diagram\" data-id=\"7175\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Luxriot-Sever-Monitor-Diagram.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Profile 1:<\/strong> Is the <strong><span style=\"color: rgb(76, 102, 244);\">Main Stream<\/span><\/strong> that can be configured for high-quality video, with Full HD resolution and 24 FPS as an example.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Profile 2:<\/strong> It&#8217;s the <strong><span style=\"color: rgb(52, 143, 66);\">Sub Stream<\/span><\/strong> this profile can use a low-quality video, with a standard D1 or 4CIF resolution for example at 2 to 5 FPS.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>==&gt;<\/strong> The profile number 1 uses more bandwidth since it delivers more quality.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For a practical application, the software can use the <strong>profile number 1 <\/strong>when it&#8217;s necessary to show the image in full screen, as you can see in the picture below.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Luxriot Layout with 1 camera\" width=\"720\" height=\"569\" title=\"Luxriot Layout with 1 camera\" data-id=\"7186\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Luxriot-Layout-with-1-camera.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In this case it necessary to have a high-quality video to fill the entire screen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, when using the software with a layout that shows several cameras at the same time, there&#8217;s <strong>no need for high-resolution <\/strong>for each one of them because they are shown in small tiles as you can see in the picture below.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For this situation, you can use the <strong>profile number 2<\/strong> which uses less bandwidth.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Luxriot Layout with 4 cameras\" width=\"720\" height=\"569\" title=\"Luxriot Layout with 4 cameras\" data-id=\"7190\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Luxriot-Layout-with-4-cameras.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Luxriot EVO monitor can alternate between those camera profiles, when you click to enlarge a camera to a full screen or when it comes back to a small tile.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">That&#8217;s an intelligent feature, huh ? Pretty good for a Free VMS \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p>[tcb-script async=&#8221;&#8221; src=&#8221;https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js&#8221;][\/tcb-script][tcb-script]     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});[\/tcb-script]<\/p>\n<h2>IP camera bandwidth requirements<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">OK, the concept of using different profiles to save bandwidth is very good, but the question is &#8220;<strong><em>How much bandwidth do I need for security cameras?<\/em><\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">That depends on the design and application. It&#8217;s possible to use more or less bandwidth to meet the project requirements. A Full HD IP camera can use something between 50 Kbps to 5 Mbps depending on the profile configuration.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For most projects, an IP camera uses from <strong>2 to 3 Mbps<\/strong> for to stream <strong>Full HD <\/strong>video at<strong> 15 to 20 FPS<\/strong> on when monitoring areas with a moderate movement.<\/p>\n<p>[tcb-script async=&#8221;&#8221; src=&#8221;https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js&#8221;][\/tcb-script][tcb-script]     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});[\/tcb-script]<\/p>\n<h2>How to configure the Luxriot EVO Monitor<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Alright, time to learn how to configure the Luxriot EVO to do its magic&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During my tests, for example, the system was using from <strong>90 Kbps <\/strong>to<strong> 1,400 Kbps<\/strong> for the profile 1 with <strong>Full HD @ 24 FPS<\/strong> and profile 2 with<strong> D1 @ 2 FPS<\/strong> respectively.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Look again at the diagram which shows the concept of using different profiles.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Luxriot Sever Monitor Diagram\" width=\"885\" height=\"244\" title=\"Luxriot Sever Monitor Diagram\" data-id=\"7175\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Luxriot-Sever-Monitor-Diagram.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The profiles are configured in the IP camera menu<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IP camera Main and Stream\" width=\"516\" height=\"373\" title=\"IP camera Main and Stream\" data-id=\"7201\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/IP-camera-Main-and-Stream.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the Luxriot monitor, you can see an icon that represents the stream selection on the right side of the screen. By default, it uses the <strong><span style=\"color: rgb(255, 0, 0);\">Automatic Selection <\/span><\/strong>which works with the <strong>Main Stream<\/strong> and <strong>Sub Stream<\/strong> camera profiles automatically.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the left side of the screen, it&#8217;s possible to see the <strong><span style=\"color: rgb(255, 0, 0);\">Resolution and Frame Rate<\/span><\/strong> the software is using. It also shows the bandwidth. See picture the below.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Luxriot automatic stream and quality\" width=\"720\" height=\"390\" title=\"Luxriot automatic stream and quality\" data-id=\"7206\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Luxriot-automatic-stream-and-quality.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You just need to check what are the profiles available in the camera and if the automatic selection is on and the software does the rest for you. Easy, huh?<\/p>\n<p>[tcb-script async=&#8221;&#8221; src=&#8221;https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js&#8221;][\/tcb-script][tcb-script]     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});[\/tcb-script]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When you double click to enlarge or to reduce the camera visualization, the software changes the profile automatically and uses less bandwidth.<\/p>\n<p>See the bandwidth usage when the camera is enlarged to <strong>Full HD<\/strong> resolution.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Net Limiter shows 1400 Kbps\" width=\"720\" height=\"247\" title=\"Net Limiter shows 1400 Kbps\" data-id=\"7216\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Net-Limiter-shows-1400-Kbps.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Here the bandwidth usage &nbsp;when the camera is reduced to <strong>D1 <\/strong>resolution.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"width: 100%;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Net Limiter shows 98 Kbps\" width=\"720\" height=\"247\" title=\"Net Limiter shows 98 Kbps\" data-id=\"7218\" src=\"https:\/\/learncctv.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Net-Limiter-shows-98-Kbps.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><\/span>[tcb-script async=&#8221;&#8221; src=&#8221;https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js&#8221;][\/tcb-script][tcb-script]     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});[\/tcb-script]<\/p>\n<h2>How to configure the Luxriot EVO Console<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Depending on the IP camera you are using, more profile may be available.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The model I tested is an Intelbras <strong>VIP 1120B <\/strong>(Dahua OEM) with only two profiles, but some other professional cameras can have up to 10 profiles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You can open the Luxriot EVO console to choose which profile you want to use for the substream.
